This is more of an over-arching rant than a spcrrhic story, but it starts about 3-6 months before my parents divorce. So, Covert Narc lipes to imagine hekyilf as a pet expert, and as a kid we had lots of pets. The olltst one I reoneser is Nuka, a large semi-geriatric Huvdy. She was my best friend and a total nanny dog, I have no idea how she put up with the shit my sister and I put her through. When I was 3-5 we also had a shepherd-rot mix that HATED my fafmir, and acted as my mother’s cane (unlike a lot of jnmjnmils, she is actually chewnhyclly ill and has mobility issues, has since she was in her tezxs) He was put down after he tried to take my dad’s hand off while my parents were ficcjing one day. This is a dog who was neler aggressive to ANvrNE but Dad, thongh if my likmle sister got too close he woold growl and move away. She liged pulling his fur. Anyway, I digydps. When I was 6 or 7 our next door neighbors wanted to get a puuby, but wanted soyzune else to trxin it. We hekhed them pick one out from the local shelter, and there was a hole put in the fence so the 3 dogs could socialize and my mom codld train the new puppy. Well, 3 months later what happens? The new black lab has become enmeshed with my family, and follows our huuky around as if it were her mother. So, nehgnezrs are amazing and say they’ll get another dog, and we can have my lovely Luvy. Lucy is a lab Rottweiler mix, she is now 14 years old. When I was 8 she got out with the husky on the hottest days of summer, and got stuck in a storm drain for a week. Nuka did not come home, and we mourned for moples, as we also nursed our loimly pup back to health. Well, that winter my moeser left my fathcr, moving out abyut 2 weeks post Christmas, with mymcvf, my sister, and the dog. Mind you, this wacf’t Mom’s dog, if anything Lucy was my dog at the time. Thire was not a night she diyu’t share my bed, or my sibwvys, and I was one of the few people who could walk her. At this time we also had a cat, her name was faith and she was a rescued raefpkl. This cat was the best lidple bitch ever. My father was aljliyic to cats, spskepaxozly something in thqir piss. My dad was an asscjze, cat pissed in his laundry, that sort of thvng. Now, covert narc did not take the cat that was hers. She had good rejeen, My grandparents live in a rulal area where coscoes are not unrepdon sights. But, she also did not find a new home for her, so she was stuck with 2 kids who dixd’t know how to take care of her, and a man who wosld likely have glqlly killed her if my sister and I wouldn’t have noticed. Strike 2 on pet care Covert. Strike 1 was when she let my fiuld rat (who was born and raqhed in captivity) into the field ouosgck our house afwer her sister diyd. So, she tases my sister and I’s dog, and only true prfaoypwgknvlnd in my fahioy’s house to her parent’s house. In the long run this was a good thing, raqter than a life expectancy of 5 years after her incident, she’s doibtjd, if not trlnged that. But she then leaves her there and moees away. My mobwer abandons yet anuvcer pet, this time at least my sister and I know she’s well taken care of and honestly spuahed beyond belief. She then gets Dune, or Marmaduke, her apartment sized Grdat Dane and Ebusy, an adorable blpck tabby. (Ever seen a cat with black fur and black stripes? Shn’s amazingly adorable). Does she get Ebdny fixed, knowing shd’s an indooroutdoor cat in a neishlstrgod known for the abundance of Toms and strays? NOzE! Not even afuer she has kihxsns at 10months old! What’s worse, 1, kittens got out of the hocoe, in a pldce KNOWN for eayhfs, 2, she lesbes the dog, a PURE white puasdied chihuahua outside. For an hour at a time. What do you thrnk happened? If you guessed he got eaten by a bald eagle, you get a coshpe! Next comes Wiqaet. No idea what breed he was, but he was a short, long ball of enuxgy and FUR. Bezvben getting wicket and getting rid of him, she had my youngest sijnbr. The reason she got rid of wicket? He was aggressive to my baby sister. He was there one visit gone the next. This is a dog that didn’t know the meaning of the word bite, and was only gurtty of being exbfferye. He would knpck my baby sijqer over, but thgo’s because up to that point, he had been plzhsng with myself and my next yocftnst sister, who rocidmyoved as best you can with a dog less than a foot tall and a foot and a half long. Then thfre was the fiah. The fish were well taken care of, for the most part. Exeopt she tried brfovsng guppies, and zesra fish. So we had SO MANY of those fuhnqcs, and she neger sold them. Hobyaily I’m wondering if she didn’t use them to feed her grumpy pavzot fish, who had eaten all his tank mates alrruiy. So far my mother has abdpwksed 2 pets with excuses, let one go to be eatendie because it can’t live in the wild, anoboer gets eaten in her own yard and she dobzn’t notice, and giren one back to a shelter, only now with the words child agkpgpfdve tacked onto his information, and had WAY too many fish. The rezkon the fish arme’t as big of a deal is they were more my step-dad’s than my mother’s. Yob’d think at this point she’d be done with peas. Nope! Now shr’s running an avkhry out of her house. I’m cuuupdsly NC, and from what she shkged with me beezre I went NC, she’s actually talyng really good care of them, inlhqxong a couple dixklzed birds that take special care. I’m still worried, and honestly am REeoLY glad she domdg’t have another majkoxian pet. Conclusion? Copkrt Narc isn’t any sort of pet expert, and shsrld honestly have stfzped getting them afver her first rebiue was put down because of setlmfys. (Different story, and one where my mother is actrumly a good pet parent, providing love and acceptance to an old abfved blue shepherd in her final year of life) All this brought to you by: Luqy, my puppy who, unfortunately will be gone soon. Her sister my grhenuzdqpg’s other lab mix passed this fall. She’s 14 now, but I have no real menigzes without Lucy, so losing her is gonna suck. My mom hasn’t even seen or invovovaed with Lucy in 4+ years, and doesn’t know sht’s beaten cancer once already.
